selections. Your way sounds easier and I plan to try it next time I record a

Hi Giri and welcome to the list.
I offer a different approach to that suggested by Ella. Firstly,
shift-f6 is irrelevant for what you want to do.
One of Audacity's really nice features is labels. I will not go into
detail here, but labels are well covered in the Audacity Manual. What I
describe below is a basic technique. With experience you could refine
the steps a little.
Firstly, open the MP3 file in Audacity.
At each point where you want to split the track, press control-b to
create a label. That includes at the beginning of the track.
Give the label a name that you want that portion of the file to have
when exported.
Then, as Ella said, press shift-control-l to export multiple. That will
open a dialog which is fairly clear to me as a long-term Audacity user
but you may need to get familiar with it. Essentially you need to
specify where you want your files to be placed and answer the questions
about file splitting according to your requirements.
Audacity will then create the separate files.
Note that if you want to save to MP3 files you will need to have the
Lame encoder installed. If you do not know what that means, ask for
more information here.
