Have you tried disabling wave form updating (preferences/tracks) and
also collapsing all tracks?

I had similar issues on some machines when using Window-Eyes with
Audacity. Try unchecking the Selection Toolbar: alt-v, then t and arrow
down to Selection Toolbar and press Enter if it is checked. That
resolved the issue with Window-Eyes. As Jacob suggested, there is no
sluggishness with NVDA.
I am fairly certain that the problem with Window-Eyes was related to the
constant updating of time when playing or recording. There may or may
not be a similar issue with JAWS. As I mentioned above, it didn't
happen with all computers, so may be related to a particular video card.

Hi!
I'm using the same setup without JAWS scripts. I too experience
sluggishness, in particular when using the shortcut for Stop and Set
Cursor. After pressing the shortcut I usually press space to hear the
exact position. Pressing space however, plays from the previous cursor
position, even if pressed repeatedly. Only after some time Audacity
adjusts and space plays from the current cursor position. Just in case it
matters, I have imported files copied to the project, rather than loading
them on demand. I'd also be grateful of any ideas to improve the
performance.
Cheers! Robbie

Subject: [audacity4blind] Sluggish Behavior in Audacity
Hi.
I'm using Audacity 2.1.3 with Windows 10 and Jaws 18.
About a month ago or so, I downloaded the Jaws scripts available for
Audacity.
I've used the control+2 hotkey to set the zoom.
I'm experiencing a lot of sluggish behavior in Audacity when editing
recordings.
Are there any ad-ons I should disable?
Is there another solution to this problem?
Dave
