Hi all
The new Jaws scritp for Audacity will be release, and it have the feature to silence speech at the begin of the record. Right now, if you use our script, you can toggle speech on / off by pressing JawsKey+Shift+S.

Yes, the letter starts recording. But unless there is a specific reason I don't want my screen-reader to be recorded at the beginning of a recording, I leave it on so I can verify that recording is actually occurring. I seldom use Audacity these days but as I recall, I would look for something on screen to verify it. But I'd have to try recording to tell you what. At times, I may start recording with my speech turned off but I generally never assume that recording is occurring unless there is a specific reason I want there to be no screen-reader speech at the start of a recording. As I said, I edit recordings to remove unwanted material at the start and ends of recordings, regardless of what recording program I'm using.

Is the commander to record the letter R right?

One way to stop speech in NVDA is to issue the command NVDA key s. You will hear speech mode off. If you press it again, you will hear speech mode beeps. If you issue the command yet again, you will hear speech mode talk. In other words, this command moves through three options. Issue the command once to stop speech. Issue it two more times to resume speech.

Hello,

For eliminating the speech of JAWS during recording:
Open the context menu of JAWS;
Choose for Utilities;
Choose for Sound cards;
choose an ochter sound card.

Kind regards,

Loek.

Hi all, every time I try to record with audacity I hear my screen reader
speak in the background. Is there a way to eliminate this?
