Hallo
I had a look at the time settings but cannot figure how to specify 4 hours
recording time starting at the current time.
Thanks for helping this newbie to this type of recording and editing audio.

Hettie

yes. but to do that, you need to go to the transport menu, not to the
preferences as i told you before.
If possible, direct the screen reader to another sound card, otherwise it will
interfere in the recording.

Hello
Thanks, yes it does help a lot.
Do I understand it correctly that, before starting a recording, I first need to
specify the duration as well as the source?

Hello

In the preferences menu, under recording, you can specify the duration. That
means that after the time you specifyed, Audacity will stop recording.

As the sound is being peacked up from Windows wasapi, the best way to avoyd
the interference of the screen reader is to shut it down while the recording
is in progress, or directing the screen reader to another sound card.

You can also turn off the screen reader imediatly after opening Audacity and
defined your recording duration. Then, assuming you are in the Audacity's
main window, you just press r and off you go.

Hope that helps

Vitor

Hi All
Is there any restriction on duration in an Audacity recording? I will be
listening to a four hour seminar and need to know whether it can be recorded
without starting a new recording during the seminar.
Is there a way to remove the screen reader chipping in occationally during a
recording?
Thanks

Hello.

David Bailes wrote a guide which certainly applies for both screen readers;
JAWS and NVDA Attached.

Thank you for the advice, it works well. Is there a list of shortcut keys
for Audacity and nvda?

Sorry, i said insert h but it is shift h to choose host audio device. So do
this:

Shift h to choose host audio device.
Down arrow to windows wasapi and press enter. Sorry for the wrong
information, please ignore it.

Hi to the list
I am a new member on the list. I am also a newcomer to Audacity.
My first question is how to record streaming audio from a website.
Have a lovely Friday.
