If all you want to do is record from the internet: Not all internal sound cards
provide a “stereo mix” so it might be easier to switch the interface settings
under preferences in Audacity to WASAPI and then make sure your screen reader
is output on a separate audio output device before you begin recording.
There are so many variables… don’t get discouraged just because one persons
internal soundcard has more power than yours. Often a laptop will have less
functionality. It’s all a part of the computer game *smile*.
Best,
David

Okay, I’ll play around and give it a try. Just to confirm, this is how I’d
record say the audio of a movie off the computer? Thanks.

I was using stereo mix to record Jaws earlier today and did not have to change
that setting.

Oh yeah, to reroute Jaws,
Insert J, brings up Jaws menu.
Go to utilities, then sound cards.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Recording Questions
Hello All,
I’m working with a Dell laptop running Windows 10 and JAWS 2020 and the latest
version of Audacity. What I’m looking for is how to record what is coming
through the computer speakers such as a streamed item and if possible avoid
having the screen reader coming through at the same time. I know this has
been covered before and I’m hoping someone may have an instruction list set up
and ready to go. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Steve
