[audacity4blind] Recording

Thanks to Kuong and Sean.
I have listened to the podcast with interest and got some useful tips when
recording from a microphone.
My question now is what about when recording from an external device?
Is there a way using the play/record meetre, or the slider in/outputs to make
it so that all recordings play at the same level?
For readers' interest, I found the podcast on Blindtechsupport much more
informative for blind audacity users. Why? It used keystrokes when giving
examples.
