The left and right square brackets behave differently when playing and stopped.
Let’s deal with playing first.
While playing, press the left bracket ([) at the point where you want selection
to start. Play will continue. Press the right bracket at the point where you
want the selection to end. Play will continue. But when you stop and play
again just the selected section will play. If your reflexes are quick enough
to get the selection just right, press Delete.
But getting timing just right can be difficult, especially if there are only
tiny gaps in the audio. This is where using left and right brackets while
stopped becomes useful. Pressing either left or right bracket brings up a
dialog. The display will depend on your settings (adjust by pressing the
Application Key). Here I have set it to hours, minutes, seconds and
milliseconds. Arrow right and left between the hours, minutes etc. Use up and
down arrows to adjust values. This allows you to make a very precise selection.
I am a huge fan of the Store Cursor position and Cursor to Stored Position
options under the Selection Menu. After you have mastered the brackets, ask if
you want more details of that feature.

Hi Justyna
To answer your specific situation:
Play until you reach the point from which you want to delete the rest of the
track and press x to stop. Then press shift+k to select to the end of the
track. Then press Delete.
While that works for the specific situation you described, you are right to ask
about use of left and right brackets. On this page
<https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqaMwQC-taeGmBi3PWiV3EnNPCjK?e=wxof8t> there are a number
of audio files describing the use of Audacity. The one called
audacity-navigation.mp3 is particularly relevant. If you would prefer a text
description, let us know. Another valuable resource is the Guide to Audacity

Hello,
I have a question about selecting fragments in files, for example: in a file I
want to leave only the beginning, and I want to cut the rest, and here's the
question, how after pressing the left parenthesis, mark the rest to be cut
before pressing the right parenthesis
