Hi Jacob,
thanks for the feedback.
The phrase "label track" is intended to indicate that it's a label track rather than an audio track, and not to indicate that you need to label the track. For info on label tracks:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html

Not sure what to do about that possible confusion. I had thought of the phrase "type label", but that is probably even more ambiguous,

thanks,
David.

Sounds good to me, but, maybe unlabeled, instead of label track?

wanted

Hi,
based on suggestions by Robert Hänggi, these are a couple of proposed
changes to the names of tracks read out by screen readers:
1. For audio tracks, if the track is stereo, left, or right, then these
words are spoken immediately after the name of the track. So if you had a
track "intro music", and it was stereo, then it would be read as "intro
music stereo". If the track is mono, then that word isn't spoken.
2. For Label tracks, if the track has its default name - you haven't changed
its original name, then the two words "label track" are spoken after the
name of the track, for example, "track 3 label track". If you change the
name of the track, to for example "labels", then the words "label track" are
not spoken.

I know that when changes to track names were raised in the past, there were
concerns about increasing the verbosity too much. I hope that the above
changes may provide valuable information without increasing the verbosity
too much.
Any feedback about these changes is welcome, preferably as soon as possible,
as the changes for the next version of Audacity are going to be finalized
within the next few days,

thanks,
David.
