The problem might be that NVDA tries to say something ("e.g. "track")
before the peak is announced, so it overlaps of some sort.
We could change the latency for the output, it's currently 300 ms
which is very large IMHO.
You already know the line in the code:

Just underneath it you can insert:

the 0.04 could also be change to e.g. 1.0 seconds which gives NVDA
time to say its thing but that's rather superfluous information, I
think.
Are you on a newer Windows? Then you could try the autoduck feature of
NVDA (NVDA+Shift+D), I can't test it on my Win 7.
I can tailor the plug-in such that it uses your ESpeak voice.
Just give me the voice name, rate, pitch and volume that you usually use.

FWIW, some of us who use eSpeak as our default TTS engines, don't hear
things like the ivona voice too well...<smile>

It might interest you that the developers struggle with a similar
problem.
As a consequence, in the new release the (Nyquist) plug-ins will be
scanned on each launch of Audacity for "Ghost" entries and they will
be removed (disabled, that is).
There's of course also the problem of having the permission
(administrator/system/user) to access a file in a given location.
I can do virtually anything on my system but this doesn't mean that
this is always the case.

It seems that the plug-in doesn't find the voice file.
With the following code you can evaluate what folders you could put
the "tts-suite.wav" file into.
Paste the line into the Nyquist prompt and press "Debug".

The file should be placed in one of these folders but not a
subfolder.
I should probably issue an error message if the file can't be found
and list those possible locations.
Working with files is always a nuisance in Nyquist.

could also assign a keyboard shortcut to it, but, if I activate
it
from
either the menu, or using the keystroke, it pops up a form of
message
box with the following message in it titled Nyquist:

First, try sounds with different dB levels. It might be that one
causes a problem.
Second:
Enable the dummy control.
- open tts-peak.ny in an editor
- remove one semicolon before "control dummy..."
It's the first line after the usual header
- save
- apply the effect--there might be an error message at the
beginning
which you can ignore.
- The plug-in will show up with a dummy control and the usual
buttons
- press debug (alt+g)
- post the error message, an excerpt at least.
