Hi Philippe,
Here are some other keys you might find useful while doing this.
While playing or recording p will pause the recording. Pressing it
again will continue.
While playing you can press [ to set the start of the selection and ] to
set the end. I like to hit p, then the appropriate bracket. If you
don't stop (by pressing space), you can start playing and then back up
with arrow keys to try again. (What you can't do is back up before the
point where you started playing.)
If you press CTRL+F6 you will move the focus to the selection bar. If
you tab through this toolbar you will find a Selection start and
Selection End (or length, depending on the setting of some radio
buttons). You can left/right arrow through the digits of the start/end
time. You can change the value by typing numbers or by up/downarrow.
If you press the APP key to get the context menu, you can change the
format of the displayed time. I leave mine set on
hh:mm:ss+miliseconds. That lets you make very fine adjustments to the
selection.
While in the track panel, if stopped, [ and ] bring up a dialog allowing
you to set the start or end of the selection, which is also a way to
read the selection start or end time. (If you are using JAWS, the JAWS
script for Audacity provides keystrokes that will speak the start and
end of the selection. They also speak the position when arrowing the
cursor when stopped.)
Oh, Cuong mentioned how to output as OGG, but WMA is in the same list.
Hope that helps.

Hi Philippe
1. To export to *ogg format, go to the link I sent in the last e-mail, find and download the ffmpeg library then install it, and do the same as export to mp3,but choose ogg vorbis in the file as type.
2. To play a part of an audio at loop, select that part and press Shift+Spacebar. If you want it to play at loop, the only way I know is copy and multiply it. I mean you copy then paste and paste the part you want to make loop.

Hi, Dang Manh Cuong
Thanks a lot for these very clear explanations, easy to follow and
that works.
If I may; I have two other questions :
- what I have to do to export in a .wma format.
I don't see this for/at in the proposed list.
- I load an audio file and I want to have a part of the audio in
loop; I want to do a loop between to points; how I define the two
points and how I play the loop.
Thans again fol all.
Best regards
Philippe

Hello the list,
I need some help from forme blind user of audacity.
It's clear that audacity is accessible but also able to do a
lot of things more than I want to use,
and the documentation to read is so big and I don't know where
to find what I'm looking for.
Is some one can tell me what I have to do to :
- delete the beginniqg part and the end part of a mp3 audio
file to keep only the middle part.
- my audio MP3 file is stereo, and I want to keeep only the
left chanel.
- export in a MP3 file the result.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
