Hi Robert,

I see...
Well, I will try, and switch to english in that case. I just went through the preferences window, but couldn't find anything to change the language.
Is there a way to do it through the program, or do I have to reinstall it?

Thanks

Best regards

Steven

Hi Steven
Yes, it runs actually only if Audacity's language is set to English
(System and NVDA language shouldn't have an influence on this).

The problem is that Audacity doesn't expose its used language.
This would be important because some elements can only be defined by
their name--the role is often a panel.
I'm arguing with the developers to e.g. set the accessible role to the
appropriate value (e.g. "Toolbar") but no luck so far.
To clarify, there are two possibilities:
1. Toolbar in the name or not present: Audacity does the translation
2. toolbar defined as role or control type: NVDA does the translation

They hesitate because the navigation could break. That's unlikely IMHO
since it would just correct the role in the IAccessible method.
Anyway, this is perhaps a bit too much background for you.
There are hacks around this issue but I don't like a solution that
only supports those languages that I target.

If I were you, I would wait for Audacity version 2.3.0 and the updated
addOn or change to English for the moment.

Cheers
Robert

Hi,

Yes. The status is "running".

Is it maybe, because the system language of my computer is not english
by default?

Hi,
Have you looked under tools->addOn manager?
What is written under the Audacity entry (disabled, enabled, pending
install etc).

Hi Robert,

no, I didn't hear any sound when I opened Audacity.
Is there maybe anything special, that I need to do, to enable the addon?
I installed it the usual way through NVDA.

Hi Steven

For the versioning system:
18 is the year and
143 is the day that the add-on has been packed (very recently).
That's rather astounding as I am running version 18.25 and I'm the
author...
Anyway, you haven't the newest version because I haven't updated the
public repo recently.
I will provide the newest version soon.
Did you hear an intro sound when you've started Audacity?

Cheers
Robert

Hello everyone,

I recently found out about the NVDA-Addon for Audacity. Unfortunately,
the Addon doesn't seem to work for me.
After I installed it, I opened Audacity and tried any of the key
combinations, that should work with the addon. But nothing happened.
It
looks like, the addon doesn't get recognized.
I am running Windwos 8.1, NVDA V2018.1.1 and Audacity 2.2.2.
The version of the addon, I am using is 222.18.143.
Is this maybe an outdated version? I got this from someone else. I
didn't compile it myself, since I don't know, how to do that.
If there is a newer version, could someone please give me an already
compiled version?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards

Steven
