There is an effect that attempts to remove the vocal track from an MP3.
However, it has been my experience that this effect does not work all

editing software packages. by the time you have removed the vocal track,

There are some criteria that have to be met in order to get a decent
result.
- The vocals should be in the center and hopefully not sharing the
space with other instruments.
- There shouldn't be too much reverb
- The file has to be in stereo
- Removing the vocals reveals artefacts due to lossy compression (mp3)

therefore not ideal.

I've used Vocal reduction and Isolation for that, the diverse parts are:
1. Original
2. Remove vocals, strength 0.7071, to stereo
3. Strength 1.0, to mono
4. Same, to Stereo
5. Highest Strength, to stereo
Filter is 120 to 150 Hz and below 13 kHz.
The chirp sounds you hear are typical for mp3 compression, a de-esser
might help.
The remaining voice is due to reverb which is typically panned hard
left and right.
