I like Audacity for transposing, speed change, and things like that. You've
seen me fight with audacity for vocals. Is the software piano accessible?

Not that it matters with regard to the software. From what I can see,
you should have ProTools first, Appleton lite, expand2 and MiniGrand.
I don't know if you really need the former ones. I've once tried
ProTools first (it's free anyway) but it was only a nuisance, ages to
download, you have to be online, only aax effects, etc.
I don't know how Appleton is but you're already playing with garage
band, so who knows. I do personally only recommend Reaper but that's
subjective. It is at least professional and not a light or simplified
edition and has the best accessibility status without a doubt.
Anyway, I guess the downloads are available at M-Audio.
