Hello,

I'm not sure whether I'm going about obtaining assistance
correctly, but I believe this is the Audacity support network for
users who are visually-impaired.

I'm a Librivox volunteer, and this website, which produces
recordings of books in the Public Domain, has specific volume
requirements for its audio materials. They like for books to be
between 88 and 92 DB. I know how to amplify and to reduce volume, but
I'm not sure how to tell what the volume is to begin with. How do I
measure the DB level of an audio track, so that I know by how much it
needs to be adjusted?

If it matters, I'm using the newest version of Audacity, though I
also have 1.3.2 installed. I'm using JAWS 14.0 on a laptop operating
Windows 7. Any advice would be appreciated.

Joyfully,

                         Nicole
