It is helpful to have NVDA or Narrator as a fallback to aid in rerouting
JAWS back to the correct output.

Hi Mark,
I think you found this, but for others, you need to set JAWS to use a
specific sound card. When the turntable is plugged in, the Windows default
sound card changes. I can't try this right now, and I haven't done it in
several years, but here is what I remember.
In the JAWS window in the Utilities menu there is a submenu called Sound
Cards. In it there is an entry for Default Windows Sound Card which is
probably checked. There is at least one other entry which on my system is
called Speakers. Press ENTER on that and JAWS should use the computer's
sound card after you plug in the turntable.
