You can go to Help->About and use the JAWS cursor to read the version. That's
probably the best place to start...
What Behringer device do you have? I've got a few...
Peace,
D

Dear David,
Thank you for your help! Audacity is giving me fits! LOLL I downloaded
Audacity from the Behringer web site. It came in a file with a bunch of other
files such as different effects. I did not install anything other than
Audacity though, so that I could focus on one thing at a time.
Behringer is a company that makes different musical products such as
amplifiers, mixers, PA systems, etc. I'm guessing that my version of Audacity
is the newest version, but I can't find what my actual Audacity version is. I
am using a lap top with XP Professional, and JAWS 16.0.
I did discover that part of the issue is that Audacity is not opening a new
track when I request, and is simply recording what I record as part of the same
track. I started 3 new tracks with me simply saying "track 1, track 2, or
track 3 respectively. I went to Project on the tool bar, and clicked on Audio
Track, as well as once attempting to add a Stereo Track.
The first 2 tracks were established, but for some reason non of the ones after
the first 2 were established.
My voice recorded OK, but evidently they were placed on track 1, but track
2 appears to be empty while track 3 appears to not be there. I did a JAWS to
PC, as well as a simple JAWS curser. I placed the curser on one of the tracks,
and then pressed Enter. But when I try to delete a track, or open it for other
adjustments, it tells me that there is no track selected.
When I do an up and down arrow, only track 1 and track 2 is there. I am
wondering if I should dump the Audacity that I have, and go to the regular
Audacity site to download from there. Maybe my Audacity is corrupted?
Thanks for your guidance! If it would be easier to communicate privately
without high jacking the public list, you can E-mail me at
jameskelm@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Thanks again!
Respectfully,
James

Howdy,
You can select a track with the "enter" key. It is a toggle.
Are you using the JAWS script set that Gary Campbell wrote? Let me know what
JAWS version and what operating system you are using and I can point you to
them. I've been on vacation for a while so I'm trying to catch up.
Looks like there might be alpha versions of the script set for Windows10CE and
Audacity 2.1.3. What version of Audacity are you using?.
Regarding only seeing 2 tracks but you hear all four tracks you recorded...
you should be able to arrow up and down to see all of the tracks. If not, is
there any chance you recorded in stereo and there is one instrument on the left
and one on the right? That might make it seem like 4 tracks but you'd only
have two.
Peace,
D

Dear Sandra,
Thank you for your warm welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know
all of the folks on this list, and of course I'm looking forward to learning
about Audacity. I have been a professional musician for a little over 30
years, and I did quite a bit of recording back in the analog days.
I am just getting started in the digital recording world however, which is like
starting all over! LOLL But it's a challenge, and I've always liked a
challenge.
I am running into a little problem in that the instruction manual that I
downloaded for JAWS users seems to not be as compatible with the new version of
Audacity, at least as far as keystrokes are concerned. I am slowly getting
some control of Audacity, but maybe someone can help me with two keystrokes or
methods?
First of all, how do I select a track? I can click on a track to change
its name, along with the other options like moving it up or down in the list,
etc. But when I try to change a track's volume level, add an effect, etc., it
says that I have to select a track first.
Secondly, how do I make it so JAWS can read more than 2 tracks? I have
recorded a little 4 track practice project, but although all 4 tracks play when
I press the space bar, I can not read anything but the first 2 tracks.
Thank you for your help. Please forgive me for being so long winded!
LOLL
Respectfully,
James

Dear friends,
I am brand new to this list, having just joined a few minutes ago.
I also am brand new to Audacity, having just downloaded it to my DAW a

look forward to learning more about both you, and the Audacity program.
