Sameer, you should check out David's screen reader user guide for
audacity - page is titled jaws user guide, but, pretty much applies to
all screen readers:

But, two easiest ways to affect selection, either during playback, or
not are, on track selection [ and ], which during playback will just set
start and end markers, and if not busy playing, will bring up a dialogue
to prompt you for times, or else, from there, one press of ctrl + F6
will take you to selection toolbar, and you can find start and end time
spin controls there to control it.
