Apologies for the personal email.
I recognise I’m being extremely slow here, I’ll blame it on having the virus
and also because I was so used to gold wave.
I’ll try to explain what I’m doing or trying.
So I have a skype interview, I’ve sorted out the plugin to convert that.
At the beginning of that track, eg before it starts, i’d like to paste layers
or should I say mix layers of sounds from youtube, I’ve recorded these using
audacity.
Some of them are louder than others, on gold wave i would go to volume and
reduce, can I do this on audacity.
On gold wave if you had multiple tracks you’d alt tab, here you arrow down.
Now you explained how to mix 2 tracks, I just tried it.
I select a sound, trim it etc, I then did ctrl shift i to import another
audacity file carrying other sounds, i select it by pressing enter it doesn’t
want to open, i press space it doesn’t want to open, i changed file type to
all and even wav and other compressed formats, in my frustration i pressed
enter 5 times and it opened another file and mixed both tracks, which sounded
like a mess, where am I going wrong?
Also when I put my markers down and select a piece of audio and pan, it pans
the whole track, rather than what is in those marks, again different to gold
wave.

As someone who used goldwave, you’ll have to forgive me but I have
further questions, I’ve read the very well written jaws guide, but
I don’t have the answer to the following.
Can you mix tracks with audacity? Eg: sounds of soccer over a song?
If yes how? I tried to cut 1 track to paste over another, but I
could only hear

track, when I’d like to hear both. I need to cut snipits from 1
track to paste over another and need to hear both, is this possible?
Where in the menu can I find the special effects?
The guide states, shift P will help you to pan a track, none of the
shift commands work with audacity 2.33?
Can you record the system output as well as your voice, if yes how
please?
So far I’m struggling with the programme, perhaps I’m expecting too
much?
Just in case, I’m using windows 10, jaws 19 and audacity 2.33.
Any help would be appreciated.
