Hi Diane
If you confuse with CDex, I recommend you to change to other program. I use to copy music from CD using GoldWave and Jet Audio and feel comfortable with it. You can find any information about GoldWave at www.goldwave.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diane Scalzi" <dscalzi@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Everyone,

My folder settings are set so that hide extensions for known file types is
unchecked and I still can't find the file and folder I need. I have also
searched for *.wav and only found one file on my computer with this
extension which has nothing to do with cdex. Are there other settings in
cdex that I should be changing? This is my last question about this. I'm
ready to give up now. Thanks.

Diane

Thanks for the help. I think I located my recording in C:\Program
Files (x86)\CDex\my music\no artist\audio_4. However, in searching
with Windows Explorer, I can't find the file to play it or work with
it. My folders in control panel are set to show hidden files and
folders, but not system files. I also can't open it in Audacity. How
can I play it, move it to another location, etc? What am I doing
wrong. By the way, I am running Windows 7. Thanks.

I am not blind so cannot give you instructions for navigating Explorer in VI
tools.

In Explorer, open Tools > Folder Options. Move to the "View"
tab. There is an "Advanced settings" window containing a list of options.
Under "Files and Folders", ensure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked and choose OK. Then you can work out if there are any WAV files in
" C:\Program Files (x86)\CDex\my music\no artist\".

If there is a WAV file, execute it in whatever way you normally execute a
file or program. A sighted user would double-click the file. This will play it in the default program associated with WAV files (probably Windows Media
Player).

If you want to open this WAV file in Audacity, File > Import > Audio. In
"Select one or more audio files", TAB into the "Files of type" combo box and arrow down to select "WAV, AIFF and other uncompressed types". Then you can SHIFT - TAB back up into the "Look in" combo box to select the directory the WAV file is in. When you are in that directory, TAB into the window list and
open the file from the list of WAV files.

By default CDex probably saves the WAV to one of your Documents and
Settings folders for whatever account you are logged into at the time.

Open CDex and press F4 to open Settings. Choose the second "Filenames"
tab. Look in the text boxes. The box "Recorded Tracks" is where it
saves extracted WAV files. You can change the directory if you can
open the browse button.
