Hi James
I am also a bit lost on AMP. Perhaps shorthand for Win amp?
You are right about DAW, digital audio workstation (note, no S on the end). It
just refers to the software such as Audacity, Reaper, Protools etc. I am
pretty sure it does not include hardware.

Dear Steve,
In this particular conversation, I am also not sure what "amp" refers to.
I'm old, and think of an "amp" as the box that I plug my guitar into. LOLL
But the "amp" that was spoken of is obviously something else. LOLL
As far as a DAWS... If I remember correctly, it stands for digital audio
work station. In other words it is the product/machine that is what you make
your recordings on. In this case, which is most frequently used, my DAWS is a
lap top computer that is set up in my studio that is used to record. If I am
not mistaken, DAWS can also include the primary recording software that is
used, in my case part of my DAWS is Audacity. But most often, DAWS refers to
the actual hardware that is used to record.
I hope that I am correct, and that my explanation is understandable!

Wait a minute, I'm confused; WMP can burn. It can't do DVD's but it can do
CD's. I know because, when you put a blank CD in and copy files to the drive,
it says "You have files waiting to be written to the disk" and you can click
that and then a wizard comes up; I'm pretty sure that wizard is WMP; "What kind
of CD do you want to make, Audio CD/Data CD" is the first question that the
wizard shows. I thought that was WMP; I'm pretty sure. So if you copy files
into the CD drive when a blank disk is in, it will say how many files are
waiting to be written; I think you can press enter on that, or right click on
the drive itself and click "Burn to disk using Windows Media Player".
Yeah, I was sure that was all Windows Media Player being able to burn files to
a CD.

Thank you Mike! This sounds great. I don't actually mind not being
able to download tags, because the DAWS that I will be putting the
software on is not connected to the Internet. I of course have other
computers that do connect, but in the attempt to avoid any strange
bugs or other things that can mess things up, I have not connected my
main DAWS to the Internet.

Hello James and happy holidays to you and your family. Yes there's an
accessible cd burning software that allows you to not only burn cds
but rip cds as well. The only downside is that if you rip cds, you'll
have to manually tag the files, as unlike WMP, it does not have an
online database at which to download metadata. The program is
Anyburn, and you can download it for free by going to:
http://www.anyburn.com
The site also has tutorials in written format that you can read
directly from the site, and/or copy/paste into a word or other
document editor for easy reading.

Dear friends,
Does anyone know of a CD burning program that is especially
accessible?
Of course what I want to do is take a recording off of Audacity, and
then burn it to a CD. It would also be great if I could rip songs
off of a CD.
And as you guys probably can guess, I especially like either low
cost, or free! *smile*
