[audacity4blind] Audacity compressor

I try the audacity compressor alot of time,but i always have my very first of
my audio softer than the rest, so could you give me a suggestion of the
settings? Some member gave me a suggestion for setting the atack and release
time, but I forgot. Any help would be appreciated.
