Hi
It uses Portaudio for all the stream management since it is, well,
portable to all platforms.
It is more a question of which number of layers the audio is going
through and that's in turn decided by the host you choose.
ASIO (NA in Audacity) is the lowest level but proprietary, Jack Strip
might be an alternative. It is followed by Windows KS (Kernel
Streaming) and WASAPI.
Only the latter is available in Audacity and You won't have any
ducking interference when using that.
Just try it out. I have a lot of glitches with it but it really
depends on the audio card.

Hi:
I would like to know what software Audacity uses when I hit the spacebar to
play a audio track, also when Audacity plays a track while I am Overdubbing
a second track.
Does it have its own in-house developed player or does it tie into the
default or other audio player on the client system?
Some audio devices will do something called volume leveling and I am
wondering how, if, this may play into a potential ducking problem I am
experiencing.
Thanks:
I know this is a bit technical but Audacity is built by a community so I am
guessing the answer is out there.
