Hi David,
I would appreciate having this file.
Thank you,
Pawel

If you want, I could send anyone the new JAWS JSS file for you to compile

Most puzzling.  Given that Angelo reported the same issue, I wonder if
something wacky is going on with some keyboards/computers.  Portia, did the
brackets work as they should for you in earlier versions?

LOL! That is exactly what is weird. I press space twice after pressing right
bracket, and it plays the whole recording.

Portia, the confusing aspect is that, after pressing right bracket, playing
continues.  Pressing spacebar twice will stop playing and then play just the
selection.  But if you press arrow keys you will clear the selection.  That
is why I am such a big fan of the Store Cursor Position and Cursor to Stored
Position options from the Select Menu.  Keys have not been assigned by
default, but it is well worth doing so.

Hello there Andrew,

When I last tried, the whole recording just kept playing, no matter what I
tried.

Portia.

Portia, it is working as advertised here with NVDA.  What happens when you
follow these steps?

1.    Start playing some audio
2.    Press left bracket (the audio will continue playing)
3.    As the audio continues to play, press right bracket (the audio will
continue playing)
4.    Press spacebar to stop playing
5.    Press spacebar to start playing.

Just the audio between the points where you pressed left and right bracket
should play, as it is selected.

Do you get a different result?

Andrew

I think there is an issue, cause the left bracket and right bracket keys
don't work for selection, either, and I'm using NVDA, default Audacity
prefs.

You do get the dialog asking where to set the selection when stopped, but
when playing or paused? No selection is set.

Hi Angelo,

as Andrew has already suggested, the jaws script keystrokes alt + left

bracket and alt + right bracket do not work with the latest versions

of Audacity. The selection toolbar has been changed, and the Jaws

script would have to be updated for this change.

I can't reproduce any problems using the left bracket and right

bracket keys when playing.

Hi Angelo

You said the left and right brackets “are not really working”.  In

what

situation(s) are they not working?  When not playing, pressing left

or right brackets (the two keys to the right of p) a dialog with a

string of numbers should appear.  When playing they should set the

beginning and end of selection respectively but nothing will be

reported by the screen reader.

Re alt+left and right brackets, they are not default Audacity keys.

Well I upgraded to Audacity 3.3.2, and when I try editing the [, and]

work at all.

Are there some settings I need to change?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
