I don't know if Windows upgrades are forced. My impression is that they never
are but if you don't upgrade, you may lose support at some point or you may not
get security updates. At some point, you may want or need to upgrade. I've
seen nothing convincing as reasons to upgrade when I read brief discussions
about what is contained in the upgrade.
This article contains what I consider to be very good arguments not to upgrade
to the latest version unless you are an experimenter or curious. For people
wanting stability and predictability, I think it's a bad idea at this time.

The short, and probably ill informed, answer was that I thought on or
after April 11, it was an automatic upgrade. In other words, I thought
it was mandatory. One had the option to delay, but eventually it would
be forced.

why bother until you have to.
Then you can see if the program works but I doubt it will.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Audacity 2.13
Happy Easter, List.
After thinking about this Audacity/Windows problem all week, I'd like
feedback on this idea.
Before upgrading to W10 Creator's edition, I was running Audacity
2.12. After the Windows upgrade, it started crashing. Rich, another
list member and friend of mine, suggested upgrading Audacity to 2.13.
It still crashed. Now, here's the question. I now have 2.13 installed
before the Creator's edition, will Audacity perform correctly since it
will have been upgraded first?
Thanks,
