Hi Andrew,

That would be greatly appreciated! I'm working on a recording project and I'm
concerned about keeping my levels up to industry standards. Any advice or tips
on keeping them from being too low or too high would really be helpful.

Hi Sharon

An easy way of adjusting recording level is to do it from within Audacity.
1.      From the tracks panel in Audacity, which is where you land when
launching, press control-shift-f6.
2.      Press either tab or shift-tab until you reach Recording Volume.
3.      Pressing up and down arrows will adjust recording level up and down
respectively by one unit.  Pressing pageup or pagedown will adjust by twenty
units.
4.      Press control-f6 to return to the tracks panel.

Let us know if that does not answer your question.

Incidentally, pressing shift-tab from Record Volume will take you to Play Meter
and one more shift-tab will take you to Record Meter.  I almost always use
Record Meter before starting a recording to set the level.  I have been
contemplating a short audio tutorial on use of these meters for a while.  I
will try to get it done this week.

Andrew

Hi,

Is there an accessible way to adjust the volume level of the microphone we
choose to record with?

Thanks,
