I had a little trouble with this at first.
Make the desired track be selected and all others not selected.
When on selected track, type j, then shift k. This ensures that the
left & right markers are at each end.
Then Alt C, A, enter to bring up effects menu, Amplify, and choose it.
Now you are in an edit field with some number, say minus 1.3.
Note, anything negative or to the right of zero is too loud amd may
likely have clipping. To move left.... that is, to a positive value,
type a negative interger such as minus 3. So now your value becomes
1.7. Here is where it seems counter-intuitive, the negative 3 is
really adding 3, making the track quieter.
Another example...
If your voice track has a value of 13.82, it will be too quiet. Follow
the steps above, but instead type a positive value. Be careful not to
pass zero. So, if you type 13.0, your value becomes 0.82 You are still
to the left of zero and with no clipping.
Another way to get exact zero is to use Compression. I just use the
default settings here.
