Hi Diane
The mail did get through on this occasion, so hopefully that issue is fixed.
Now to replacing one word with three. I think the following approach should do
the trick.
Delete the offending word and deselect that track. Then, on a separate track,
record the three words to replace it. Select those words and copy with
control-c. Select the original track and move the cursor to the point where
you deleted the original word and paste with control-v.
Here is another approach, which I like but requires a bit of digital
gymnastics. Create a new track in readiness for the new recording. Then
delete the word you do not want. Deselect that track and arrow down to the new
track and record the new material. You then need to get the exact length of
the new material. Deselect that track and arrow up to the original track and
select it. With the cursor aligned with the start of the new material, go to
the Generate menu and arrow to Silence. Set the duration of silence to match
the length of the material on the second track.
In summary, you delete unwanted material from the first track and replace it
with new material on a second track. You then add silence on the first track
so that later material gets pushed along.
Have I confused you completely?
Andrew

Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Adding two words to a track in Audacity
Hi Everyone,
I apologize for changing the subject of this message. For some reason, I am
subscribed to the list but my messages aren’t getting through. Please someone
let me know if you receive this. I want to delete one word from a track and add
three words in their place. Also, how can I get my messages through to the
list. I hope someone can help. I’m desperate. Thanks.
Diane

Subject: [audacity4blind] Setting levels in Audacity
As promised some weeks ago, I have at last recorded a tutorial on setting
levels in Audacity. I started doing this several weeks ago, but was overtaken
by a nasty cold which made my voice sound worse than usual. While not entirely
happy with the sound, I decided to stop fiddling and make it available as is.
Many thanks to Robert for information he has provided previously on this topic
and for reviewing my material. For those who are interested, the recording
will take up eight minutes of your time. So, here it is, audacity-levels.mp3
