How about Reaper?
It's 60 dollars but there is no limit to the demo version and no expiring date.
You could also use FFMpeg which allows free mixing of video and audio
and pictures.
The advantage or disadvantage is that it works on the command line
with a lot of options.
I always wanted to make a Wrapper for it.
