Hi Paul and list,
I agree with Thomas concerning accessibility in latest audacity on mac. I would
like to mention another issue: In the preferences keyboard-shortcuts-category,
obviously there is a tree-view in order to navigate the different commands
sorted within menus. In earlier versions, you could navigate this tree-view
with the arrow-keys, where up and down navigated the different menus while
right opened the focused menu, displaying its entries and corresponding
keyboard-shortcuts. In the latest audacity, arrowing up and down doesn’t give
any VO-feedback at all, as well as the tree-view itself isn’t accessible. In
order to assign a shortcut to an unassigned function, you have to type in the
name of the function in the search-edit-field. Then navigating to the right
with VO-cursor-right brings you to the tree-view-group, where you have to
interact and navigate to the right, until the function is spoken.
Voice-over-conform, that should be sufficient to select the function, but
instead, you have to perform a physical mouse-click. Finally, pressing tab
brings you to the edit-field, where you can enter your preferred shortcut.
I’m working with audacity for several years, so I can manage somehow. But for
beginners, this process is currently very hard. It would be good, if this
process could become easier and more accessible in future.
Thanks a lot Paul for your efforts and best.
Michael
