[audacity4blind] ASIO... is it worth it?

I'm trying to decide if it is worth the effort to compile ASIO into Audacity.
I've been using Audacity daily for months now, and enjoy the fact my work flow
is familiar. The learning curve is gentle.

I have other options to try and figure out how to record multiple tracks at
once on my input devices; Berringer Q1202 and Peavey USB8, but I'd like to use
Audacity because the learning curve is gentle. Other software options include
Reason, but I would need to take the time to learnhow to use it... probably
would need to spend time scripting it.

I could compile ASIO into Audacity but the learning curve there seems immense.
I haven't done Windows development since my son was born in 2006.

Any suggestions how to decide where to put my efforts? My main goal is to
continue recording daily... I'd like to add multi track capability with the
least amount of learning curve. Audacity with ASIO seems like the best option
for me, but I'm not super interested in the learning curve needed to compile
the ASIO version of Audacity.

Suggestions? Thanks to all,
David
