I have some notes somewhere, but cannot find them - probably at work and I
am working away from the office at present.
My understanding is, though, that one has to compile Audacity specifically
to work with ASIA. It all seemed too much trouble for this lazy person,
especially when I can adjust to deal with the issue for my humble needs.

Thank you for replying.
I really would like to be able to use ASIO on my system.I got my Presonus
mixing board only about three months ago when I started learning Samplitude.
I believe I had installed ASIO on my daw computer back then.
If I do already have an installed copy of ASIO on my computer, would I need
to install another copy just for Audacity?
If I do need to install the ASIO drivers, I'll be needing help for sure! Of
course, using the sound card in my mixing board makes it easier also to keep
speech out of the recording. But as is noted in the manual, with ASIO,
latency is a thing of the past for the most part.

The short answer is yes. Due to licensing restrictions though, there are
hoops through which to jump. I lost heart before making much progress. See
