Hi, I will be giving a tutorial on basic Linux shell usage this Wednesday session. I'll be looking to start around 6:30pm. If you do not have a members server account set up then you'll need this to be done before we start. You have one set up if you've entered a password into a computer that I've pointed you at. More people have shown interest than I originally foresaw and therefore the tutorial plan has changed. This week we will be looking at basic shell commands and simple text editing. Next week, we will move on to more advanced text editing and writing a C program with build control (vim/gcc/GNU make). The week following this will look at revision control (subversion). Once these techniques are mastered, we'll move onto intermediate/advanced C programming. I'm "borrowing" some lecture notes from EG3092 for this. The course co-ordinator has kindly granted me permission to do this. Regards, Iain Learmonth Head of IT Computing Science Society University of Aberdeen e: adapa@xxxxxxxxxxxx t: +44 (7853) 027574
