Mine still works too and is actually hooked up to my main television.

About once every several years, the power gets plugged in, and although I
have Pole Position II, Joust (II?) and possibly another 7800 game,
Midnight Magic and Mario Brothers eventually take over the cartridge slot.

I wasn't familiar with the Cuttle Cart II that you mentioned. I don't
know how, after looking it up, but apparently missed it during my various
web excursions somehow. Do you know of any substitute or actual working
instructions to build something similar? I know that in the past I've
seen serial/parallel cable pinouts to the cartridge port, etc.?
