but you can do this without any "dirty tricks"??? you can have a lot of "objects" (DLs) on one scanline...

so regarding your split screen... imho would be possible... you define f.e. 2 sprites both 80 pixels wide, each representing the "road"... even in indirect mode ("Charmode") you can have them both on one scanline... so even vertical moving ("scrolling") independendly is possible by updating the DLs adresses and the DLLs... even in "indirect mode" ("charmode") MARIA is possible to "split" screens just by telling how many bytes MARIO should read and write for each DL object... so imho horizotanl split screen should be no problem???

right now i don't see why it should not be possible.... even if you build your "road" just via sprites ("nightrider" like or enduro like)

and to have "overlayed" score tables isn't hard either as you can put many sprites "on top" of each other...with the DL-list...

deniis, you have to switch off your "2600" and "5200" brain here on 7800... 7800 has raw power and seems to be optimised for arcade games... core is the DLL and the DL list...

I was thinking of something like a split screen racer with player 1 on the
left and player 2 on the right. Another idea would be to have the game on
the left side of the screen and the score/status on the right sort of like
Eduardo Mello's Space Invaders Collection for the Colecovision.

Take care,
Dennis
