[astcq-discuss] Desperately seeking job descriptions

Hi All,

I'm looking for some job descriptions for Technical Writer and Document
Writer.

My company insists on calling me a Document Writer because I specialise in
preparing end user documentation, and only have a beginner's understanding
of technology.

I can see their logic and normally wouldn't care about my job title. The
only problem is that I think Document Writer is known as something else in
the market place. This could cause problems for me as my pay review is
going to be based on the pay for a Document Writer, not a Technical Writer,
and when I leave Jupiters I will be down in the paper work as working as a
Document Writer, not doing the work of a Technical Writer.

Fortunately Jupiters understands my concerns about my job title. Does
anyone have any job descriptions or can direct me to some job descriptions
for technical writer/document writer.

Also, can anyone think of another title that would be appropriate for
someone preparing end user documentation?

I have tried doing a search on the Internet but nothing concrete has come
up yet. And let's face it there are only so many hours you can spend doing
this during work hours.

I was just hoping that someone would have some information for me. I feel
the same way Ana does about posting requests like this to the
Austechwriters' list. It causes so much commotion that I really can't be
bothered. If anyone has any advise for me I'd be very happy.

Cheers,

Melanie Dixon
