The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University invites 
applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant 
professor, to begin Fall 2014. Persons with exceptional qualifications may be 
considered for associate and professor ranks. We seek candidates in all areas 
of Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with expertise in advanced manufacturing, 
bio-inspired materials and manufacturing, and advanced materials design and 
processing are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates must possess a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely 
related field with potential to develop an internationally recognized, 
interdisciplinary research program and to actively contribute to core graduate 
and undergraduate teaching missions of the Department.

The Department currently has 28 tenure track faculty members actively involved 
in research, teaching, and service endeavors. One third of the current faculty 
members have received the NSF CAREER grant. The Department has an enrollment of 
approximately 750 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The Department is 
housed in a modern research and education facility. Clemson University is a 
public, land-grant institution currently ranked by U.S. News and World Report 
as 21st among national public universities and is among the top ten in senior 
capstone design. The university maintains a high-performance computing cluster; 
ranked 15th among academic research clusters, and has a state-of-the-art 
electron microscopy laboratory. The campus is located along the thriving I-85 
business corridor centered between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC and is 
adjacent to lakes and mountains that offer many recreational opportunities.
