The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University is
seeking an outstanding individual for a tenure-track position at the
level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Faculty of
Engineering at McMaster University has a reputation for innovative
programs, cutting-edge research, leading faculty, and aspiring
students. It has earned a strong reputation as a centre for academic
excellence and innovation. The Faculty has approximately 160 faculty
members, along with close to 4,000 undergraduate and 750 graduate
students. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has a high
reputation in both research and teaching, as one of the top
Departments for Mechanical Engineering in Canada. We have 22
faculty members with expertise in mechanics & design, manufacturing,
thermofluid sciences, and biomechanics.

The candidate will have a significant role in supporting the
teaching of innovative mechanical engineering design at the
undergraduate level and will be expected to develop a strong
research program. The candidate’s research area will focus on
engineering systems including, but not limited to, biomedical
engineering, human factors, energy systems, automotive,
mechatronics, or digital/additive manufacturing systems. The ideal
candidate will have experience in teaching engineering design or
will provide a clear plan or approach to teaching in that area.

The tenure-track appointment will be at the level of Assistant or
Associate professor and will commence July 1, 2015 or as soon as
possible thereafter. Applicants will hold a doctorate in Mechanical
Engineering or a related branch of engineering. Applicants must
demonstrate a successful record of research, reflected in extramural
grant acquisition and publication in high quality peer-reviewed
journals. The recruited individual will teach both undergraduate and
graduate level courses, develop graduate level courses, and support
departmental growth in systems engineering. He/she will also be
expected to establish a strong externally funded research program,
supervise graduate students, and foster existing or new
collaborations with other departments and faculties. The successful
applicant will be a licensed Professional Engineer or will have the
qualifications to immediately apply for licensure.
