The DI team is a design engineering SWAT team with capabilities spanning
industrial design to business design. The team is leading the development of
new methods and approaches to innovation that lay a foundation for the
emerging design culture in Singapore and the world. The DI team is a research
nucleus for the SUTD-MIT International Design Centre (IDC) as well as a
professional industrial design organization. The team consists of
approximately 20 core post docs, phd students, researchers, and
undergraduates headed by Professors Kristin Wood and Lucienne Blessing.
We are looking for a talented research lead comfortable with industry
relationships and strong in design theory and practice. The opportunity
involves the following responsibilities:
1) Create deliverables for multi-disciplinary industry contracts from concept
generation through to small batch prototype development. Guide and support
the DI team, liaise with faculty to generate and integrate results by
applying user-driven and systems design approaches (design innovation).
Results will span product, service, and system domains in varied industries
from media, to aerospace.
2) Lead the genesis and implementation of design science research projects.
Involving fundamental research in design and innovation with an emphasis on
empirically derived results leading to new theories and methods.
