In recent years Oxford Dictionaries has started to do a lot more work with
global languages.
In 2015, Oxford University Press (OUP) launched an initiative called Oxford
Global Languages (OGL), which aims to create free online resources for 100
languages over the next 10 years. A link is available at the end of this
email.
In addition to OGL, we also have a successful licensing programme that offers
lexical content to tech companies and developers in a huge variety of
languages. A link is available at the end of this email.
Within this initiative, Marathi will be among the next languages to be launched.
We are looking for standard Marathi native speakers with expertise in a variety
of language-related disciplines for our database of contacts.
There will be a range of ways to be involved, from language consultancy and
translation tasks to support for online communities.
These are at the planning stages, and the work and roles are still being
defined. There is funding for some tasks, which will be coming up from now
until mid-October.
If you
* are interested in being involved or
* have colleagues that are interested or
* know any native speakers that may be interested, please let us know
and we will be in touch.
Best wishes,
Iona Argyle
