Dear Colleagues at Asialex,

Appeal for Authors: lexicography in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh

In recent years, corpus-driven analysis of phraseology and collocations has
taken its place as a major focus of linguistic research in all the world's
languages. To reflect this development, Springer Publishers have
commissioned Patrick Hanks and Gilles-Maurice de Schryver to edit a major
new online International Handbook of Modern Lexis and Lexicography. This
will contain chapters on theoretical and practical issues; also chapters on
lexis and lexicography in all the world's languages. These chapters range
from reports on corpus-driven work in lexicography that has already been
done to accounts of the lexical challenges that face future lexicographers
in languages where little or nothing has been none.

The responses to requests for contributions have been overwhelmingly
positive from almost everywhere in the world -- except the Indian
Subcontinent. Here, authors are still needed.

If you would like to contribute a chapter on any of these topics for any
group of languages spoken on the Indian Subcontinent, please e-mail us
(off-list, at patrick.w.hanks@xxxxxxxxx and
gillesmaurice.deschryver@xxxxxxxx) for further details.

Kind regards,

Patrick Hanks & Gilles-Maurice de Schryver.
