So, the bottle I wanted topped off had 1900 psi and I wanted to fill it
to 2100 psi. I went to Advanced Aviation and a young man took me into the
hangar, right to their oxygen cart and proceeded to attach their line to my
bottle. He got out two giant wrenches and torqued the hell out of the nut,
acting like Superman trying to move the planet Earth, grunting and
groaning! He added the 200 psi that I wanted and then, as you might
imagine, had a heck of a time loosening the nut from my bottle.
Now for the "good" part. I went to the office to pay for the service and
was told that it would be $50.00!!! That's FIVE ZERO POINT ZERO ZERO US
DOLLARS!
I paid up, told them they were thieves and that they would never see me
again.
So, if you have an emergency situation where you just have to have your
oxygen bottle filled with ABO, this is the place, as long as you don't mind
paying a fortune. Or, you can go to the next nearest place, which I
understand is in Sacramento.
You may want to pass this along to other glider pilots (I don't have the
complete ASI/NSA email list).
