Dear all,

Tomorrow, Nitika, Kingshuk and I are going to call up a few applicants.
Should each of us try to assess different things for some applicants whom
we shortlist?

Obviously we can't assess hands-on aspects on the phone, but these are some
points that I want to find out through the conversation:

A: Interest in understanding others’ learning process.

B: Basic understanding of a few science concepts.

C: What does the applicant feel about doing experiments/hands-on?

D: Attitude about learning something new or about not knowing something.

E: Ability to listen to others, respond with relevant points, engage in a
simple conversation.

Could you give feedback on the following sample questions for AFSPs and
suggest:

(Has the applicant read the advertisement? How has the applicant understood
the advertisement?)

Describe the nature of the job.

What is hands-on science?

Why hands-on? Why do experiments at all?

Give examples of two school science experiments that you find interesting.

What will you do if an experiment does not show the results you are
expecting?

Which topic in science do you like and why? Which topic in science do you
dislike and why?

Best, Anish
