Dear all,
We need to contact people and groups in Maharashtra who are working in
science, in education and in publishing relevant material.
One category is people who are running schools - such as the aided
rural/ashram schools or alternative schools. The "Active Teachers' Forum"
group is supposed to have many interested Zilla Parishad school teachers in
Maharashtra - had asked Mohan and Geeta Mahashabde for forwarding details
of the Amravati workshop, but nothing came out of that.
The other is the city-based resource persons.
I am going to Pune to join Junuka and Sarangi at the end of December - and
will speak in detail with Mohan and meet Joe and other people in Pune.
Could also speak with Bhas, Satyajit and Vineeta about the plans, if they
are available.
Going to Mumbai for the episteme conference from 5th to 8th January -
hoping to connect with people there and others in Mumbai- e.g. Prakash
Burte (got Aruna's phone number - 9892593623, couldn't talk as I got a
tooth extracted yesterday). Also heard of a well-run aided ashram school in
Thane district run by a former professor of Botany - Dr. Nagesh Tekale, who
is also the president of "Enviro Vigil".
If you can give leads on whom to meet in Pune and Bombay, I will try to
connect with them. We could count on their participation in future
workshops - both large-scale ones and smaller ones with KRTs, AFSPs and
youth. Translations and developing resource material is also another area
where we need contributions. They might also suggest books, material and
other interested people. What are the other kind of participation that we
could ask for?

Narmada suggested that we meet her father - Nanda Khare in Nagpur. He has
written many books on science in Marathi (recently he finished translating
Pranay Lal's Indica), besides having been part of the 70's Magova
collective. He is also connected to many people and groups in Vidarbha.
Some of us could plan to visit him in Nagpur later on.
