Dear Girish ji,
After meeting you on 22nd December for the Science teachers training in
Prabodhini I was in Amravati for the next three days. We were slightly unsure
till we found that 130 teachers had managed to turn up at a very short notice
from the entire ATC region. So, as planned we had four parallel full-fledged
sections, with a resource group of about 20-25. It was an extremely energizing
experience for everybody and the team now looks forward to next stage
engagement at the ground level, that would be extremely crucial to impact the
classroom processes.
As we had shared earlier, in Amravati region our major base is going to be in
Dharni with a team of 3-4 persons stationed, and others visiting as and when
necessary. In this context during last meeting in ATC Amravati and then at PO
Dharni, it was discussed that it will be best if two of the Tribal Development
Department quarters are allotted to Eklavya, one for Akanksha and other women
who will be stationed at Dharni, and second one for a computer/printer/scanner
office back-end set up.
As hands-on kits for students for Dharni region have been prepared, it is
planned to send 400 kits to Dharni within next couple of days (see mail below).
So, it will be good if we can get these quarters allotted in Dharni when the
vehicle with kits reaches, so that persons who are going to accompany can get
the maintenance work done over next few days. And subsequently, the team can
move to Dharni as soon as possible. We have already sent substantial material
including books, printer, equipment etc to Dharni directly from Amravati when
the training ended, and it has been temporarily stored in the Dharni PO office,
in coordination with the Project Officer Shri Vijay Rathod. He had also
promised some working space in the PO office, from where our team can function
whenever they are not in the field visiting Ashram Shalas or conducting
meetings.
In addition we were in need of some information, so that we can commence
engagement with other PO regions in Amravati ATC as well.
- Postal addresses of all the Asharma Shalas of Amravati ATC. (so that we
can start dispatching readings/magazines and other materials directly to Ashram
Shalas).
- Name of science teacher in each Ashram Shala, for classes 5-7 and 8-10.
For all PO regions within Amravati ATC.
- List of aided school in each PO within Amravati ATC (so that if there are
some interested teachers/schools, we can involve them in our cluster level
activities).
- Points-person in each PO region with whom we can coordinate with,
especially in the context of sending student kits (the local PO office with
need to dispatch these to each Ashram Shala) and other academic/administrative
issues.
We will be troubling you with such requests once in a while - I hope you will
not mind! If you are ever visiting Bhopal, we would like you to spare some
time and visit Eklavya.
Thanks and regards

Number of Kit Boxes for Dharni (and related issues)
Dear All.
These numbers seem to roughly match the provisions that we had made. On an
average 20 student kits for each AS.Numbers that are suggested in the excel
worksheet have been worked out by Madhav and others on the basis of following
thumb-rules.
- Total number of students in classes 6, 7 and 8 are divided by 6.
- Whatever the number, it is rounded upward.
- For schools that have only classes upto 7, student strength of 5, 6 and 7
is added with the same formula.
One possible way to organise within AS could be that one set of student kits
can be dedicated for classes 5 and 6. Another set for classes 7 and 8. The
division could be based on student strength. There could be other suggestions
as well, that we can brainstorm within the AS or in the cluster meeting.
First set of 400 student kits will be ready today, for dispatch to Dharni. A
dedicated vehicle will be ferrying these to Dharni. Madhav is coordinating with
APO Pedekarji to figure out whether they are ready for local storage and
further dispatch. (20 Teacher kits are already in Dharni.). Current pace is
that every five days, 400 student kits will be assembled. Check list of items
has been prepared in Marathi and English.
- Nitika is preparing two formats - one for taking receipt from PO office.
Another, that PO office can use to take receipt from individual AS HM.
- She will also need to prepare such list for all POs in Amravati ATC, so
that next 3-4 dispatches during the January can be planned.
