COSMOS Symposium on “Computational Tools for Safety Assessment Focussing on
Cosmetics Ingredients”

This one day workshop event will present and demonstrate the findings of the EU
COSMOS Project to support the prediction of repeat dose toxicity within the
context of the SEURAT-1 initiative.

Specific highlights include:

* Role of 21st Century Toxicology: Development of non-test methods to meet the
demands of the Cosmetics legislation
* COSMOS DB: A database solution to investigate toxicological data to support
knowledge discovery and safety evaluation
* Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC): The COSMOS TTC dataset enriched in
cosmetics-related ingredients, available within COSMOS DB
* Biokinetics Modelling: Freely available PBK models (for oral and dermal
exposure), IVIVE, cell-based virtual assays
* Toxicity Modelling: Structural alerts and molecular modelling profilers to
support toxicity prediction
* Computational Workflows: Freely available KNIME workflows, KNIME WebPortal,
supporting documentation, user guidance and on-line tutorials
* Read-Across: Presentation of a strategy and templates to define uncertainty
and assist in data gap filling
* Hands-On Demonstrations: Use the computational tools under expert guidance
* Interactive feedback opportunities: Ask the developers, discuss applications
