I'm getting an "Abort on data transfer at &00125E28" from ArtWorks
when dragging a PDF downloaded from the web.

I can reproduce this if alignment exceptions are on.

ARMX6, RISC OS 5.23 (12-Jan-18), ArtWorks 2.X2.00 (07-May-12)

With alignment exceptions off, that error doesn't occur.

That's it. It's really annoying - I'm forever forgetting to do this.
Does the problem still occur with the latest ArtWorks release?

This is fixed in ArtWorks 2.X3.

With 2.X2 and below, importing a multi-page PDF causes a crash with
alignment exceptions on, but only if the "Select page range" option is
selected in PDF import choices. So, even in your version you can work
around the problem by disabling that option, but then you cannot
select the page range to import.
