Kala Art Institute and California College of the Arts are pleased to
present a lecture program with 2014 Artslink Fellowship artists Katya
Nikonorova from Kazakhstan and Neno Belchev from Bulgaria. We hope you can
join us for this lecture followed by a farewell reception for the artists.



Kazakhstan artist Katya Nikonorova, an artist in residence throughout the
Arts LInk Fellowship program and the California College of Arts, will
present the work of a wide variety of artists from Kazakhstan. This
presentation will include internationally known artists as well as members
of the vibrant, young and upcoming Kazakh art community.  Nikonorova will
address the conceptual and aesthetic development of Kazkah contemporary art
through their work and speak about the trends and themes that are most
relevant artists working in Central Asia.



Neno Belchev is a multidisciplinary artist, who recently was awarded a
residency by CEC Artslink at KALA Art Institute (Berkeley, CA). Neno will
present his latest video art works and will talk about his work completed
in the Bay Area. The talk aims to enlighten the concept and ideas behind
the work and Neno's understanding about art.

Join Kala's Print Public artist teams - Taro Hattori, Taraneh Hemami, Sue
Mark (marksearch), Susan O'Malley, Swell (collaborative duo Ali
Naschke-Messing and design studio ScrapD), and Imin Yeh - for an evening of
discussion and feedback about their public art projects. Meet the artists,
discuss, and share valuable feedback on their respective projects along the
San Pablo Avenue Corridor. Research results from our partnership with UC
Berkeley's College of Environmental Design's INCity students will be on
view offering a special look at statistical data gathered in the
neighborhood.

Learn the basics of linoleum cut, an easy to carve medium and the basis for
relief printmaking. Translate drawings and other line based imagery into
beautiful prints! Participants will cut their
own lino blocks and create a small edition of multicolor prints. For

Make a diagram of the correct way to wash a dish, or a map to your secret
spot, or show your neighbors that its easy to park in their parking spot
without blocking yours, then create an edition to aid in dissemination of
your ideas. Through this topic exploration students will learn how to
transfer a drawing onto a screen, expose and print a one drop screen print.
