Thread about arrested boot sequence has run long.
I wonder if arrested shutdown sequence is in any way related.
I think I'm not the only ArmX6 user who gets this mysterious hang.
Arrested shutdown -- the machine hanging before getting to the
standard "OK, switch off now" message -- is not quite so bothersome as
the arrested startup, because the cure is simply to switch off, done.
But why does it happen? Ctrl-Shift-F12, windows close, open files
warn, task manager quits, keyboard and mouse dead -- and the rest of
the screen is still there. Switch off, no harm done, but seems wrong:
what is causing it to hang, half-alive?
(Parental warning: gruesome metaphor)
This is most likely a piece of software or external hardware that is
failing to shut down cleanly.
You'll *probably* find this won't occur on a clean machine (eg. rename
!Boot to x!Boot and copy in a clean !boot sequence from :1.$.Recovery).
Side note - when going for a "clean" boot, please also remember that
anything in Apps, (Printing?) and Utilities is "looked at" during startup.
If it still does on a clean boot, then most likely it is a USB device.
Connecting this to another part of the thread, remember that the only
officially supported keyboard/mouse (K&M) solutions are the Logitech
wireless sets that we provide. Anything else is "at your own discretion".
However, I severely doubt this problem is in any way connected to K&M.
