Yes, but Bernard was talking about creating the dot file on Windows and then
transferring it to RISC OS, so it would become slash.

Ah, I misread that. I wonder what happens to a dot file on Windows 
transferred directly to a unix-based NAS. I suspect it would be 
silently ignored.
