Well it's not entirely trivial. Depending on where the error occurs it may
need to unwind many levels of recursion while reconstructing the rest of the
tree, all done in time-sliced Wimp polls to maintain multi-tasking.
Regarding the cause of errors in the first place, I have a theory (well,
Andrew suggested it rather than me). Could someone who uses a NAS and has
unexplained errors occurring during a backup please check something for me:
are there files in the backup that are treated as hidden by the NAS? In
other words, do they disappear from view as soon as they've been copied? I
can't replicate any errors on my NAS here so a bit of info from someone who
can might go a long way towards fixing it.
